2013 – Year In Review

The end of the year is here, and it just doesn’t seem possible.  This year flew by!  I  hope all of you have had a wonderful holiday season.  A couple of weeks ago we looked back at some of the favorite Window Wednesday posts.  Today I thought I would take a look back at some of the more popular blog posts from 2013.

These are the top 10 most popular posts from 2013.  There’s no rhyme or reason to the order of the list.

I was kind of surprised at how popular the recipe posts were, so there are three of them on the list.

#1 – Broccoli And Rice Casserole

This fast and easy recipe was very popular, especially around Thanksgiving.  It’s not a healthy dish, but fine for once in a while special occasions.

#2 – Sewing Runs In The Family

It was really nice to hear your stories of how you learned how to sew.  Sewing has, unfortunately, become a dying art.  I’m hoping that with today’s internet access, and all of the sharing blogging communities out there, that more people will learn how to sew.

#3 – Hoosier Cabinet Makeover

Hoosier Cabinet Makeover

I was a little surprised at how popular this post was, but I loved hearing about all of your Hoosier cabinets.  Seems that they are a popular antique.

#4 – 10 Basic Sewing Terms

This goes back to what I said before, I’m hoping more people will want to learn how to sew.  Hopefully this tutorial will help those that are just starting out.

#5 – Fun Little Girl’s Sundress

Little-Girl's-Sundress

Out of all of the sewing projects that I worked on this year, this was by far my favorite!  (It helps that it was for one of my favorite little ones.)  I’m hoping that my grand daughter will be able to wear the sundress again this summer.

#6 – Chocolate Crackle Cookie Recipe

Chocolate-Crackle-Cookies

I LOVE chocolate, and these cookies are easy and delicious!  Enjoy!

#7 – Knife Pleat Ruffle – Video Tutorial

knife-pleat-ruffle

The knife pleat ruffle is a fairly simple embellishment to make, once you know the tips and tricks for how to make it.  (The video shows step-by-step how to make this ruffle.)  I love adding it to pillows, valances and lots of other sewing projects.

#8 – Easy Chocolate Mousse Pie

This recipe came from my mom, and is so delicious on a hot summer day!  Or anytime!

#9 – How To Make A Pillow

This pillow tutorial was very popular this year.  I really like making pillows, and I’ve enjoyed sharing several different designs with you this year.  This one starts you out with step-by-step instructions for making a basic pillow.

#10 – How To Hand-Sew A Pillow Closed

Hand Sew Pillow Closed

This post has been very popular this year, much more so than even the how to make a pillow post.  I love videos that show very clearly the steps for how to do something, and that’s what I tried to do with this one.

I hope you enjoyed this look back at 2013.  Here’s wishing you all a wonderful 2014!

  1. Those are some great posts! The cookie one got pinned! I love your hoosier cabinet. I keep finding them on Craigslist, and really want one, but we just don’t have room for one.
